About Marilyn Chadwick

Marilyn ChadwickSince 1992, I have worked in the field of augmentative communication. It has been my privilege to work with families and professionals in the United States, England, Holland, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Israel, Australia, Japan, India, Sri Lanka and Viet Nam. I've learned that tapping into that desire to communicate, opening the door to communication through relationship and proper access, is the same in any language.

My experience includes service in the schools, first as a therapist and then as a consultant, and leading the training effort at the Institute on Communication and Inclusion at Syracuse University. My efforts have established both standards for practice and a recognized network of master trainers. My job also connected families and professionals with university students through trainings and teaching courses in the School of Education at Syracuse University.

I hold a Master's Degree from Eastern Michigan University and am a licensed Speech/Language Pathologist in the State of New York. I hold certificates in complementary disciplines as well.

A life-long learner, I am first and foremost a listener. I believe the first step in communicating is listening and observing how others are trying to share who they are and what they want. Time and again, one successful communication strategy gives rise to other communication strategies, including speech. I have worked with people of all ages and it is never too late to open the door to communication.
